Spring Pops - Salute to Broadway!
In the panoply of Broadway, two names stand at the head: Rodgers and Hammerstein. The Phil celebrates this iconic partnership with a look at some of their finest work:
Oklahoma, their first ground-breaking work. The orchestra plays favored tunes including Oh What a Beautiful Mornin', The Surrey with the Fringe on Top, and People Will Say We're in Love.
South Pacific, the period snapshot of American troops in the Pacific theater. You'll hear, among others, Bali Ha'i, I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair and, of course, Some Enchanted Evening.
The Sound of Music, the inspiring story of the von Trapps, who find their path to fulfillment and freedom. Program includes Climb Ev'ry Mountain, Do-Re-Mi and My Favorite Things.
These are the songs you've been singing all your life!
