Soloist - Albert Brouwer, flute
Albert Brouwer performs Mozart’s Flute Concerto in G with the New Hampshire Philharmonic at its fall concert.
Mr. Brouwer is the principal flutist of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. He is featured frequently in solo works with both orchestras. Recent performances include concertos of Liebermann, Khachaturian and Vivaldi, and the Bach Brandenburg concertos with Jaime Laredo on violin.
Originally from the Netherlands, Albert Brouwer graduated with great distinction from the Utrecht Conservatory of Music in the Netherlands studying with Abbie de Quant. Mr. Brouwer has also studied with Timothy Hutchins in Montreal.
Mr. Brouwer was formerly a member of the Schleswig-Holstein Festival in Germany, where he played under the baton of conductors such as Georg Solti, Lorin Maazel, Mstislav Rostropovich and Valery Gergiev. He is currently a member of the Albany Symphony Orchestra and substitutes in the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
Mr. Brouwer teaches flute at Bishop’s University in Quebec and lives with his wife Stéphanie and two sons Aiken and Jorik in Quebec.
